Who We Are
- Mission - To provide a safe opportunity for underserved youth to develop baseball and life skills, advance academically and grow socially in a family environment
- Vision - To help lead the way for every child to have equal opportunities to learn the game of baseball and become strong community stewards
- Founder & History - Led by former MLB player Coach Morris Madden and established as a 501c3 nonprofit in 2011, CMR has fielded multiped teams (100+ total players) with an emphasis on disadvantaged and underserved minority participants. Our organization's main focus is engaging with people who love baseball and the youth, partnering with schools, churches, businesses, other nonprofits and other baseball organizations and leveraging social capital for the benefit of participating players and families.
Why We Are
Organized team baseball has supported development of leadership and life skills in youth across the country for decades. However, today's organized youth baseball programming has a high price point and limited access that causes a significant barrier to entry. This friction point has led to a substantial negative impact on kids in underserved areas and ultimately keeps many kids from participating in the game of baseball. Leveraging the power of social capital and committed partners will dramatically increase the participation of underserved youth in baseball (balanced emphasis on baseball skills, academics, life and leadership skills). Success is realized when access and affordability to the baseball playing field is leveled and players progress through life on trajectories representing their true and full potential.
What We Do
We offer a unique opportunity to the youth and families we serve -- one that is both professionally run and economically affordable -- which is an opportunity to play baseball (many for the first time) with emphasis on life skills and education. We have strong leadership, with outstanding ability to coach and grow players and are well-connected to the broader baseball community, including MLB. From practice and full uniform games to tutoring sessions and mentor discussions, we expect active player and parent engagement in the organization, both on and off the field.
Where We Do It
Our home fields are the newly renovated Tuckaseegee Dream Fields (7531 Tuckaseegee Road, Charlotte, NC 28214) that provide access to West Charlotte families that have been overlooked by youth baseball.
